![]() | Careful when using the term "At midnight". "At midnight" means at exactly 24:00 (12am). It is a very specific time. When something happens very late at night, and we don't know the specific time, we say it happened in the middle of the night (sometime between midnight and 4am). Example: I heard a loud noise in the middle of the night.If you say "I heard a loud noise at midnight", it would imply at exactly 12am.
