 |  Lesson: Retire / Quit I retired from my old job when I was 28 and moved here. <-- Correct or Incorrect Grammar? Answer In English, "retire" means to leave a job or company after a lifetime of service, or to stop competing in profession sports or entertainment. When we stop working at a company because we don't like the boss, or we can get a better job, or we want to start a new career, we say "quit". So, we say:
