  • Popular = liked by most people.
  • Common = widespread, known by most people.
Eg: The Toyota Landcruiser is very popular amongst 4WD enthusiasts. = A lot of 4WD enthusiasts like that car.

Try presenting the above incorrect sentence to your students, and see if they can he find the error.
