![]() | Innovative Approaches to Language Learning - by Robert Blair is an excellent book for anyone looking for an indepth explanation on learning techniques, what is wrong with the current systems and new findings. Students will learn best by doing - but only if what they do has meaning and purpose for them. They will retain only what they experience meaningfully, what they perceive to be useful to them. Therefore, the next time you teach children or adults, give them some language that they can use immediately in the classroom. My children students, I always get them to knock on the door before entering and announce themselves in English. Example: Student: Knock, knock Teacher: Who is it? Student: It's Mei Ling Teacher: Hello Mei Ling Student: May I come in please? Teacher: Yes you may Student: Thank you. The above is a routine that all my children students follow week after week.
