Re: Be ware of Shanmu training school in Jinan

Hmmmm, Jinan was good to me while I was there. Of course, I didn't work at this place. Where is it in Jinan and who is the contact person? Might pay to let folks know that so if they see a vacancy there, they can avoid it, or do more homework before they go there.

Is this your first job or experience in China? If so, it's not too surprising as it happens frequently to the more inexperienced folks who come here. If it isn't your first time, well, homework is the way to go before trusting anyone and usually, a signed contract as well.

Good luck in finding a suitable place.....try Aston English in Jinan, a friend will work there shortly and might be a good contact for you. Remember also that Jinan is but one city out of more than 660 in China, and one experience in one city doesn't make China a bad place!

My 2 cents worth!

Re: Be ware of Shanmu training school in Jinan

I also had a recent run in with SHanmu training center.

THey offered me a job, and spoke of a fully furnished apartment in at Da Guan Yuan. I was living in SHouguang at the time, part time. Anyway, I arrived in Jinan with the help of a Shanmu person, and arrived at da guan yuan to a hotel because they told me that the apt wasn't ready.

SO I waited with my wife there in the hotel for a few days, patiently, as I inquired about the apt. Mind you all, I didnot sign a contract yet, until I was in the apt..as I told them. Upn the 3rd day of at the hotel, I became more stern with them and asked firmly about the apt. THey said that they had to look for another one because they thought the firt one offerd wasn't good enough. I had only 2 more days before I had to return to america for 2weeks. My wife was to stay behind at the so called apt.

So, When threats of me leaving reached their ears they had a place all of a sudden, and said that while I am in NY they will move my things to the new place and my wife will be able to move in.

With that in mind, all was alright.. yet their contract wasn't clear and they were all shady.

So, I was in NY, and I get a call from my wife saying how the apt is in da guan yuan and in a bad setting, along with the apt being 2 bedroom, and a 4 by 4 bathroom with a squater and no shower... no cooking materials, and no stove. haha

I told her to prepare our things and leave to her friends home. SHe moved out, I told off the boss in a respectful manner and all was done. I am not doing any business with shanmu, and I do not advise another foreigner to seek employment under them. THey will lie and makethe worker become a slave to their own bidding. Not fun.

But I am glad it is taken care of.. Patience and wisdom always clears the way.

Anyone near Hong Lou GUangchang, Baihua GOngyuan area? It would be fun to meet for tea

Peace,
Aiwei

Re: Be ware of Shanmu training school in Jinan

I only know about Shanmu in Shenzhen. I haven't worked for them, but I did consider them. The foreign boss in Shenzhen is quite nice and seemed fairly honest. The pay was pretty good but didn't include an apartment. It also didn't include a Z visa. I was told I could easily get an F in Hong Kong. I had to explain the rules of visas for Americans and said I had to have a working visa to work anywhere. (I wasn't too concerned, I know enough people to help with such things). The last part that put me off on working there was the teaching methodology. I suppose it works for their teachers and students, but it certainly wasn't something that would suit my tastes.

I'd say that anyone who wants a job in Shenzhen should take a look, but be completely sure you know everything about the school. Like everything in China, things change.
