![]() | The school in question is Time Life, Yonago. I will begin by saying that the president first appears to be a "nice guy" . This facade is to ensure that you take the job. ![]() He will force you to sign the contract either in your home town or either in his office on the day of the first meeting. He will not allow you take the contract to a lawyer to check it's validity. ![]() The housing he will set you up in is usually one of his friends appartments and he will deduct the costs directly from your wages. NOTE: at an increased price, compared to similar appartments in the area. The housing usually is dirty or not taken care of, as he does not check the cleanliness of past residents apartments after they vacate. ![]() He will hire you, you will begin work with little or no training, and no curriculum. At this time you will be working illegally, as he will ask you to sign a new contract (post dated) within a month. You will not be told that you will be outsourced to other organisations and payed a pittance to do it. After your first wage he will deduct tax from your wages, (which he cannot, because he cannot pay tax on illegal workers, so he pockets this himself) bank fees (even when you don't have a bank account) and not sign you up to health insurance. He is slow, at best, to act on your behalf concerning matters like home maintenence or obtaining mobile phones or doctors. He will make you work when you are ill. ![]() When he helps you start an internet connection, he will sign you up with one of his friends. (he gets a commission for doing so) at an inflated price compared to others in the area. I will finish by saying that this organisation lost 4 teachers in 2 months. All disgruntled employees. If you would like to know more, just ask. |

![]() | Re: Time Life School in Yonago, Japan Wow, is it just a few schools like this in Japan or is it most that now treat their staff so poorly? Did you leave the school? I know there is an ESL blacklist where we can all read about the bad schools but perhaps we should have a white list of the good schools. Not sure that I will ever work in Japan. Will it be difficult for you to find another job? |

![]() | Re: Time Life School in Yonago, Japan I was one of the four so-called "disgruntled teachers" However; I really enjoyed working at Time Life. I can't say enough goods things about my experiences in Yonago and at school. Please take some things into consideration before you believe this persons sad story, which was not true in my case or for the other teacher that I worked with. The person who wrote this doesn’t have a college degree and lied about having one before being hired and could not present proper paperwork thus being fired!! Time Life is an excellent place to work and gain a lot of wonderful experiences that other schools can’t offer. If you would like the truth about this school please ask... |

![]() | Firstly I would like to say that I also enjoyed my time with the students and the staff at Time Life. I would also like to inform you that I didn't lie about anything. The president of the school had copies of all my documentation at the time of my application or I wouldn't have been offered the job. I applied for the job from my home country and he had ample time to check whether I was able to work for his organization or not. ![]() I was not fired at all. I left the school after he had continually asked me to fly over to Korea to renew my tourist VISA so I could continue to work for the company (illegally). I also have witnesses and a voice recorded audio record of these conversations. It's obvious to me that you didn't get along well with the manager at Time life or the other native English speaking teacher. 3 quick questions. 1. How were you informed about my departure from Time Life, did you post this because you are still a friend of the family? 2. How much did the president pay you to write the posting? 3. If you were not a disgruntled teacher, why did you leave? A very biased view from a friend of a dodgy employer. ![]() |

| Senior Member ![]() | Re: Time Life School in Yonago, Japan Ok, but no need to make it personal. State your case and leave the personal stuff for pm, if it all! This thread is to inform and warn, not to cast aspersions on another persons validity. I'm not a mod, but I hate to read folks trading blows and being accusatory!

![]() | Re: Time Life School in Yonago, Japan I find it amazing that some of the schools that are on this forums blacklist have banded together to form a, "Network for International Education" ![]() Introduction of NIE Member Schools | Network for International Education. |
