![]() | Re: International English School - Wonju, South Korea John, this is just sour grapes. You were fired. The fact is that more than half of all teachers at our school have renewed for multiple contracts. Every one of our recent teachers has completed his or her contract period as planned. Several teachers have gone on to grad school after completing their contract and asked to return later. We wanted you to be a good teacher, you had a week of paid training and additional observation time, but you were fired for incompetence. This is why you were fired John. From your termination letter: 1) You have been found repeatedly unable to read aloud to the students, without making mistakes in the words of the story, even at the level of the simple stories used in our beginner level classes. 2) You have been found repeatedly unable to read aloud with correct intonation. 3) You have been found repeatedly unable to read the simple 16 sentence dictation tests given to our beginner level classes, without making mistakes in vocabulary and intonation. 4) You have been found unable to find and correct the written mistakes made by students at the beginner level on their dictation, identification, and picture tests. 5) You have been found unable to properly score the beginner tests. 6) You have been found unable to properly correct the pronunciation and intonation of the students when reading, repeating, singing, and during simple conversation practice. 7) You have been found repeatedly unable to control or properly discipline your classes, even though every class has a maximum of five students. 8) You have been found to ignore the students during song time, instead of leading them. 9) You have been found repeatedly to waste class time by allowing the children to play, talk, or otherwise misbehave, when you should have been teaching. 10) You have been found unable to properly lead and play the simple teaching games used at our school and unable to correct the children’s behavior, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and intonation as required, during the game. 11) You have been found unable to teach elementary math as required, by failure to properly explain vocabulary, perform and label computations, and lead drills. 12) You have been found unable to teach elementary science, by your failure to teach and explain the lessons, and failure to lead the children in the discovery of answers to questions and composition of the simple sentences required to answer the questions. No school could keep a teacher like this: John can't read the words of simple 1st grade stories correctly, and the students have to correct him. He can't correct simple spelling tests because he can't see the mistakes. He had to have his wife come in and write on the board for him and he wanted her to correct his tests for him. John was fired after only a few weeks of trying to teach. Funny that he was able to be an assistant teacher for a public school for a year. He complains that the Korean teacher never let him teach alone. It's no wonder, she knew he couldn't read! Now, John can't get another job in Korea, so he's looking for a job in Japan. There should be a teacher blacklist to warn the Japanese." |
