Re: Don't work here: American School, A.I.E.S. in Nagoya, Japan

Well said Bear cat. Rather than trying to find out who we all are, why doesn't Mr. Lewis answer the questions.

Mr. Lewis claimed the original complaints were lies. So all nine of us about to post on the site over the next few weeks are liars? I think you should choose your words very carefully before you call us liars. The evidence has mounted against you and American School.

The truth is out and all you can do now is make the necessary changes in order to protect your workers from your past actions and behaviors.

You may think that you have gotten away with all of the things you have done but you haven't. The evidence is here and the verdict is in.

The question is "How are you going to make all of your wrongs right with all of these people?"

Mr Lewis.
in your last response to me you ask me to post URL where information was obtained.
Like I said it is easy to find but is it true?
Here is one, so I look forward to your answer to my questions
I suppose the ball is back in your court

If Jared would be so kind as to post the URL for the website(s) where the "information" he posted was obtained, I will be more than happy to answer your questions.

AMERICAN school Nagoya and AIES - ESL school review

Posted By John
Date 14 October 2006

In Response To: An English School Owner`s Experience in Japan Link (Kevin Burns) on the "Travel in Japan" board

While its true that some owners/managers of English schools care about the teachers and the students, they are in the minority in Japan, and are hard to find.

I agree that it’s important to have a BLACLIST of bad schools for teachers and parents to be aware of.
I was also promised everything by American School and AEIS when I went for an interview and viewed their web page.

It looked so professional and they seemed so caring but it fact it was a carefully planned interview that I later learned was used on all applicants.

They turned out to be liars and cheats and would do anything to take money from workers and parents.
They have no curriculum, no qualifications and will abuse teachers and their rights because they know that the teachers will leave after one year and they have a plethora of applicants waiting at the door.

The truth is schools like American school and AIES are typical of private juyku's and English schools through out Japan. American school is owned and run but a husband and wife. He is American and she is Japanese, but you don’t know this till later.
They have both kept their family names and act innocent but in fact they play one person of against the other, so they never resolve any issues.

They continually fine you $1,000 yen for clocking in 1 minute late for work, but refuse to pay you overtime when you are forced to stay and work ten and fifteen minutes late every evening because they have the final class ending right on the hour.

They cheat in English exams by changing students answering sheets so that parents believe their children are achieving great results. They refuse to abide by Japanese law by refusing to enroll workers in health insurance and retirement pension.

When a parent wishes to take their child out of school they threaten to sue them.
And if you speak to a parent without the owner’s permission they fine you 10% of your pay.

The contracts of American school and AIES are written to support only them but they are full of illegal rules and cannot be enforced in a court of law.

For example. If you have to take time off work and they have to get another teacher at the school to do over time to cover your classes, they pay them 2,500 yen and hour but take 3,500 yen an hour from your pay.
Is this a supportive caring school? No they are corrupt and people need to know about them

That is why in the last 3 years on 2 teachers have finished their contracts with each school.

Should the public and potential teachers be warned about this school of course?
Why?
To stop the abuse of these types of school in Japan and allow professionally run schools to operate and succeed in teaching English and to treat workers as human beings and not a source of disposable income to abuse and then get rid of them.

Re: Don't work here: American School, A.I.E.S. in Nagoya, Japan

Mr Lewis
Again another look at the internet and I find more information about the schools that you are employed.
http://www.aies.jp/

Is this written by you?
Are you a religous person?
Are you saying that you create a home/schools for students to grow in love and peace?
Are you saying that you are a moral person?
Are you saying that you are wise and can teach wisdom?

If this is what you are claiming on line and on your web page, then this site which allows people to say if you have been telling the truth and to judge you on your own standards, morals, and wisdom is very imortant.

光となるように
In Matthew 5:16, we are taught, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works." The motto of American International Elementary School's-- "Be a light" is base on this. I would like for all of us to be a light-at our school. I believe that the foundations of our society can be found in our homes. Our homes cultivate love, sharing and peace, and are a place of learning. This should also be the same in our schools. I feel it is necessary to further the moral and mental education that deepens everybody's wisdom.

Re: Don't work here: American School, A.I.E.S. in Nagoya, Japan

Hello future teachers:

What has been posted on this website does not even begin to describe the totally bizarre and outrageous things that have happened to teachers at this school.

By Wednesday, of next week, information will be posted here on this site and you will be shocked! Every single word will be the truth backed up by solid evidence and witnesses to all events.

You need to know this information before you make a decision to work for these people. The laws in Japan need to be changed to protect foreign workers and we are going to do exactly that!

This true story is so incredible, it reads like something out of a sick and twisted novel.

Please read it next Wednesday, for your own knowledge and protection.

Here is another site you asked for, but I still have not seen an answer to my questions. I am not saying they are true. I am just answering your question as you wanted to know
the ball is still bouncing

http://www.eslteachersboard.com/cgi-bin/japan-info/index.pl?noframes;read=588In favor of blacklists

By Hates "American School" and A.I.E.S. in Nagoya
In Response To: An English School Owner`s Experience in Japan Link (Kevin Burns)

Blacklists of schools are GOOD. I support them 100% and I think schools should run their school so that they never have to be put on a blacklist. These schools deserve what they get.

I moved over here from the U.S., and the school turned out to be the worst run organization I have ever seen...liars, cheaters, the worst people imagineable. Moving here from so far away, the only way I had to check up on this school was the website he sent me the link to. What better way to be able to see a response to a school than have an international blacklist. Obviously, some employees leave for personal reasons and are disgruntled, but when every single person leaves a school within weeks of each other, this school deserves to be blacklisted. Had we been able to find some information on the internet from other teachers about this school, we wouldn"t have wasted our time coming over.

Go ahead and make a teacher blacklist on the internet...the smart teachers won"t live their lives in such a way to make so many people hate them enough to go looking for websites to blacklist them.

P.S. NEVER work for "American School" and A.I.E.S. in Nagoya, Japan. They are run by the same woman/man combination and are disgusting.

I am sorry Mr Lewis but I checked on your own web page (URL listed below)and I have to disagree.

Re: Don't work here: American School, A.I.E.S. in Nagoya, Japan

Quotes form the bible well, how fascinating.

Here is a quote for the owners of American School.

"When good men and women fail to act, evil prevails.

While we are all waiting for you to respond to the prevously asked questions, we have more questions for you.

1. Why did for of us go to the previous head teacher of the school for help? We all went to the labor office to find out about our rights.

2. Why did you make us work for 8 hours at a school Christmas party and pay us only 2000 Yen for the day. That was including overtime.

3. What gives you the right to change everyones contract and overtime pay?
In all contracts, it states that if you work overtime, you will be paid 2500 yen and yet you changed the contract. Between the hours of 9-6 you would pay us 1000 yen and only after 6 2500 yen. How can you pay these hard working teachers less than their regular salary?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. A teacher was working at your school and she also had a part-time job.
You found out about the part-time job and told her to quit working at your school or the other school. She chose the other school. She gave you two weeks notice even. Then your wife wrote on the labor report that you fired her and that she was a "greedy and selfish person and only thinks about herself".

You wonder why people post about you and your school on these websites. Why should anyone have to suffer the indignity that you bestow upon them?

Wow!

Re: Don't work here: American School, A.I.E.S. in Nagoya, Japan

Mr Lewis
even when I answered your questions, and asked you to then answer my questions, you still refuse by writing to me privatly and saying "Finish answering my questions"

Today I received an email from a previous empoyee of yours. The person tells a story of something that happened while they were working there.

Again I am not saying if it is true or not but when you refuse to answer questions, and then more complaints are made and you continue to not answer, the scales are not in your favor.

The email
Wow they have really crossed a line now. It really says something that
in
all the time I was at that school I only saw 2 people
leave
without controversy! But what the hell? What the hell was going through their minds?
Maybe the same thing that was going through
Hitomi's
mind when she rented out an apartment across the street from an old
employee
So the old teacher was teaching out of
her
place, Hitomi found this out and talked to her friend at the real
estate
place. She actually rented out an apartment across the street and
started
video taping and recording (with some sort of bugging device) from the
window. The old teacher
figures out whats going on and calls the cops...who come and take
Hitomi
into the police station. Dan comes frantically asking who can
cover
his classes because It's an
emergency". Yeah bailing your wife out is something that you really
should
do. I found out after what had happened and freaked out when Dan told
me.
The reason for all this... "to see if she was stealing students.
but now we can't do anthing about it because of the police."

Like I said Mr Lewis this is an email sent to me. I never wrote it or asked the person to write to me they just did.
Is it True? I dont know . Maybe someone will confirm or deny the story, other than you.

But otherwise we will just sit and wait and watch for your replys, and other comments

Re: Don't work here: American School, A.I.E.S. in Nagoya, Japan

I can confirm that American School and the owners wife stalked this teacher for over a year. I know this person very well, probably better than anyone else.

For certain reasons I cannot provide more information about this until Wednesday of next week. I do guarantee you the information about to be released is 100% accurate and backed up by police reports and witnesses.

This is so unbelievable. That teacher was not stealing students from the school! How absurd. All parents have the god given right to choose where to educate their children.
American School jumped the gun and made a lot of assumptions.

When you get hauled down to a police station for video-taping into someone's window and listening to all their conversations, including phone conversations, you are breaking the law and you have crossed the line.
It is called criminal harassment and stalking.

Please read on Wednesday what else happened to this teacher. It is incredible. Why are we posting this. To ensure this kind of horrible behaviour ends here and now and no other teacher has to go through what that Canadian woman had to go through. Other teachers have since been harmed by these school owners and it is still continuing to this day.

I am amazed!
