![]() | Re: Teach EXP = 0 Hello Tecca, If you don't have any experience teaching, then don't fret. I think the vast majority of teachers heading abroad are in the same boat as you, ie. NO EXPERIENCE. Schools really don't care that much. All they mainly want is a native English speaking teacher who can legally reside in their country. If you sound like a native, then cool. Am sure u do since u moved to Australia when u were 4. I think Vietnam would be the most obvious choice for you. It will also probably work in your favour as you are aware of the Vietnamese customs and way of life. Do you have a Vietnamese passport? A TESL course would be a good step for you to do too. |

I'm also thinking of heading there next year with my lady (Chinese) as well. Good luck and happy hunting for a great job! ![]() |

![]() | Re: Teach EXP = 0 Hello Tecca There are several state primary schools throughout Hanoi that offer English skills to eager pupils. Teach English in Vietnam and your classes will be full of young, energetic children usually with low levels of English. A few schools also have some special needs children. Your help would be needed to plan fun learning activities to increase speaking and listening skills, such as story telling, singing and playing games. You will usually be an assistant but in some cases you may lead your own class. Hope this help you. |

![]() | Re: Teach EXP = 0 I don't think your lack of teaching experience will hinder you much Tecca. I've known a few who have done the same. There are plenty of teachers with lots of experience that are actually quite bad at it, and it works the other way as well. That is, it's more about the kind of person you are. |

| Senior Member ![]() | Re: Teach EXP = 0 I agree with BBrian, even if you're a qualified teacher doesn't automatically make you a good teacher. I'm not qualified in any way whatsoever, not even any TESOL/TEFL etc, but I teach well, do it my way and my students learn. It's basically up to you to adapt your particular style to the environment you're in and hopefully, the students will respond and do well. It's all about the students folks, if we forget that, we lose the very heart of why we're in this game to begin with! MY 2cents, ![]() Last edited by gfell; Mon 20-Nov-06 at 04:57 PM. |
