Unhappy Pets in Asia

I would like to teach English in Asia (Japan, specifically), but all the schools tell me I can't bring my domestic cats with me. Is there a place in Asia where a teacher can import and house his/her pets without problems???????????

Don't let a cat prevent you from living your life in Asia... get a grip on reality!

There are many in Asia living with cats. Just don't tell your landlord before you move in. It's not like you will be keeping a crocodile or anything.

Cat's are probably the most favorite pet in Asia due to the low maintenance. They shit in other's backyards!

Of course the schools are going to tell you not to bring your cat. After all, they just don't want the hassles. Just don't tell them. Don't let them control your life.

Thanks for the advice. I just don't know if I want to take a chance on "fudging it" and ending up in serious trouble for having transgressed. I'm not sure this is the kind of culture where one gets away with a lot of things.

You are not fudging anything. Just don't tell them you have a cat. There is no need to tell them everything in your life.

Pets in Asia

Yes, but I have 4 cats! And as far as a "grip on reality," my reality includes being loyal to creatures that have been with me through thick and thin, not shoving them in a cage somewhere and waving "goodbye."

So long as you don't cause any trouble of any kind related or not to your cats, keep your place extra, extra tidy, and let everyone save face, I don't think you will have a problem. Having more than 3 cats in a small apartment is illegal in many places in America too; it's just no one cares so long as you don't cause them problems.

PetTravel.com is a wealth of information about needed documents, tests, quarantines, for travelling with pets throughout the world.

I know South Korea requires no quarantine under certain conditions. Check the link.
