![]() | New To The Forum Well I'd like to Introduce myself a little bit. I'm FadingTalent. Of course im a newbie. hopefully I will get familiar with this forum and how it works. I recently found my calling into teaching. I am a Chef however Teaching is a Universal thing you can teach many things. I would love to learn to Teach students of all ages so I can get that kind of training and qualifications to do what I love. Excuse my wording if it doesn't make sense. But I hope you all get where I'm coming from. I'm looking into teaching but one problem is I do not have a Bachelors degree like many of the job postings I've seen on different websites. I figured this place would have answers to if there are any companies who will accept applicants without a Bachelor's Degree. I do however have an Associates degree and no experience at all as a teacher. So I'm completely willing to go through training. Please Let me know any useful information. |

![]() | Re: New To The Forum Your best bet would be China or Thailand. Other countries are more strict with requiring teachers to hold a minimum Bachelor's degree. Alternatively, a diploma along with a TEFL certificate is possible in Taiwan. Try searching the forums as this question has been covered quite a bit here. Cheers.

![]() | Re: New To The Forum I am volunteering with a school helping the disadvantaged children here in Kenya. I work with several volunteers from all over and I am happy to work with children, teach them and also support them. As teachers its a calling and I am happy for the teachers who are volunteering in developing countries and helping the children, it makes a great difference! Keep it up! I encourage many to do so. Thank you so much and I will be posting alot encouraging many to volunteer and help! Thank you Rossie Tumaini Miles of Smiles Centre |

| Senior Member ![]() | Re: New To The Forum Hi fading talent, welcome to the forum! Teaching is a great way to meet people, travel and gain valuable life skills. I came to China 4 years ago and have grown, as a person, due to my experiences. I'll agree with gfell and his recommendations regarding where to teach. There are many wonderful positions out there but you need to do a fair bit of research first. If China is the place you choose to teach, please feel free to pm me and if I can, I'll be glad to help. Be prepared for culture shock. The degree of shock will depend on where you teach but there will always be some that you'll have to adjust to. Once again, welcome and enjoy the accumulated knowledge we've all shared here! ![]()

![]() | Re: New To The Forum Sound advice by Teaching Supply. TESL/TEFL Certificate courses offer a great training opportunity at entry level. They can provide a thorough grounding in a new career and the right tools to approach a new profession. Of course, one can improvise and become an English teacher simply on the grounds of being a native English speaker. But how would you like it if the person standing in front of you in a class is teaching you by trial and error, improvising their lesson as they go along and basically learning on the job at your expense. Surely you would prefer someone who has taken the time and the effort to prepare himself for the job ahead, learning which are the most effective teaching techniques, how to maximize classroom time, how to make his lessons useful yet fun, etc. Of course we all learn more from doing something than reading about it but having a solid understanding of what you are about to do can only be a good thing! Moreover, being certified will make you more marketable.
