I have questions - chances of securing a teaching job

Hi everyone.
I am interested in teaching english overseas.

My Background
I am Taiwanese by birth, however I moved to Vanuatu when I was 5yo.
I went to an english speaking school there. I must admit that my first language was chinese though.

When I was 12 I came to Australia to study. I have a Bachelors degree in Info Tech. Now I am an Australian citizen and have an Australian and Taiwan passport.

My question is - What do I need to do next? I am looking to doing the i-to-i online course. Is there anything else that I can do to improve my chances in getting a teaching job?
I am interested in going to either Japan or China. Taiwan is out of the question since I would have to do the compulsory military service. I guess I would qualify as not being a native english speaker, right?

Thumbs up Chances of getting a teaching job

You are lucky you hold a passport from a native English speaking country. This will definitely go in your favour, and I wouldn't mention the fact that you hold a Taiwanese passport unless it comes up in the interview. Just focus on your time in Australia and education in Australia. Don't put on your resume the primary schools you attended etc. that were outside Australia.

You Australian passport will have your birthplace as Taiwan on it however, so if the question arises, just tell the truth that you only lived in Taiwan for the first 5 years of your life.

Definitely an i-to-i online course would be best. This, with your Bachelor degree and Australian passport will give you good chances at finding your ideal teaching job.

Based on the above information, I would consider you as a native English speaker.
