And one day they wake up and find their expensive foreign teacher gone. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that stealing? You not only steal time, but also the money that they paid for you to get there and do the job for which you signed on to do. I personally think that if you really want to teach here, you'll gladly pay your way here, present your ticket at the end of your contract for it to be paid. Most, if not all, contracts have airfare built in for payment at the end of the contract. When you look at your contract, you should see how much the school is willing to pay for the return ticket and then negotiate for the actual cost of the return ticket. I think that if you've stayed and fulfilled your contract, many schools/employers will be happy to pay the actual cost rather than a pissant RMB6000 or so, which is nothing really, in our money. We're not here to lose money, that's for sure and some of us are here at a financial loss. Does this mean we should lose on the airfare portion of our severance/completion package as well? Nuff said, a few dollars worth, peace y'all. ![]() |
