![]() | Finidng Reputable recruiter or co-ordinator Can anyone recommend some agency or person that would want to help someone who wants to volunteer in Africa for about 8 weeks. i will be travelling with a program that provides medical assistance, my husband is a part of it. ![]() | Volunteer teaching opportunities I have this list which you may want to try:Am sure one of these organisations can assist. You will find most of the sites you stumble across on the net offer full assistance, hence there may be fees involved. As you will be going to Africa anyhow, and don't need to worry about airport pickup, accommodation etc., I would suggest just door knocking on local schools when you get there. This would be the most simplest and effective I think in your case.

![]() | Success!! I spoke to the person in charge of my husband's medical group that is volunteering in Africa. She says that I can teach at the hospital where he will be working. Many of the teens there have had some English and desperately want to learn more, she says nurses often work with them. I am so excited, oh and they will be paying my airfare as well as my husbands now too. Last edited by gfell; Thu 26-Oct-06 at 02:33 PM. |

![]() | Yes, I have fallen into a unique opportunity. The kids are an average of 14 years old and I guess they are around the hospital and/or are long term patients and have picked up some spoken English. I cannot wait to go and meet these kids and see if I can help at all!! |

| Senior Member ![]() | Re: Finidng Reputable recruiter or co-ordinator Cool LadyM, am happy for both you and your Hubby. Maximise the opportunity, make friends and go home satisfied that you've made the world a better placce as well as being a great ambassador for your country. Good luck, and stay safe to you both, not to mention healthy....drink only bottled water over there! I was in Africa in the mid 90s and by only having local untreated water available, I stuffed my teeth up! Cheers! ![]() |
