Smile BA in Education... Do I need a Teacher Certificate too?

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site today. I have been having a look around. I like it, interesting and informative. I am a primary school teacher who has been teaching for 7 years. I am going to Europe/UK in June to travel for six months, with the possibility of staying longer if I get a job somewhere. No set plans yet as to where/what job so just thought I'd start looking around and came across this site.

Would people advise that i get a certificate if i decide I would like to try for a job teaching English in Europe?

I have a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and have been teaching Italian for 3 years. I'm sure I would benefit from the course but just wondering if I need it to apply for jobs.

Thanks, in advance.

Since you have a BA in Education, you are already a step ahead of the majority of English teachers teaching abroad. No need for you getting a TEFL or TESL certificate. You are equipped enough.

Enjoy your time in Europre / UK. May be harder than you think though as many schools only recruit teachers with an EU passport in that neck of the woods.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have dual citizenship for Australia and Italy so am in the process of getting an Italian passport. Hopefully that will make it easier.

Thanks
