![]() | Anxious Teacher! Does anyone share my problem? I have been teaching in a great college in Sydney for a year now. It's my first teaching job, and as far as I know everyone issatisfied with my performance. BUT I can't stop worrying about whether what I'm doing is OK or not. It's making my life a misery. I feel like a fraud, my only qualification to teach being a CELTA, amd keep expecting my students to see through me! Is this anyone else's experience? Anne |

![]() | Re: Anxious Teacher! If your students aren't complaining, and numbers are not dropping off, then there is no need to worry. As soon as you are doing something wrong, I'm sure you will be the first to hear about it from your schools' owners. A CELTA qualification along with the right attitude and people skills is more than enough to teach English to ESL students. Don't be so hard on yourself. There are many teachers abroad teaching with no formal TESL or CETLA qualification and only their degree in a non-Education background. So you are fine... no need to feel worried.

![]() | Re: Anxious Teacher! Sometimes I do think too if I'm doing a good job or not. It's hard because often you don't get feedback, but as soon as you put 1 foot out of line, the complaints come in easily. I always feel now anyhow whether I have delivered a good lesson or not. You know when you have a good and bad day. |

![]() | Re: Anxious Teacher! Even though it might not seem like it right now, but a little insecurity is a good thing sometimes. It will keep you on your toes and help you to do as well as you possibly could. I'm sure you're fine - like the others have said, if you were not doing a good job you would have heard something by now. ![]() |
