School calendar in Rome, Italy

Typically, the Italians take their long holidays in August. This is when mountains and beaches are crowded. Also, many Italians will go to their holiday house for this vacation time. Hence, August is definitely a bad time to head to Italy. Arrive beginning of September when schools and recruiters are busily filling teacher demands.

Beginning of September is when school students head back to school in Italy. October is typically a busy time in Italy, with everyone getting ready for exams. The winter holidays start around the 16th December and last til around the 8th January.

There are no public holidays in either September or October in Italy.

Hope this answers your question.
