Thumbs down Racism in Taiwan

I am appalled at the whole teaching industry in Taiwan. 2 months ago I had great intentions to teach English in Taiwan for 12 months before heading back to the US.

I have a TEFL certificate, am a University graduate, aged 24, a native English speaker yet still no school will give me an English teaching job. The best I was offered was a domestic helper. This is absolute downgrading and racism to the full extent!

Isn't there a something we can do about this? If I don't get an ESL job in the next few weeks, I will have to pack up and head back home. Do other Asian countries also have the same problem?
