Alternatively, you can purchase 2 tickets. 1 to Japan and the other from Japan to South Korea. As long as you can show you have a ticket leaving Japan then all is fine. Tickets from Japan to South Korea are very cheap - around 23,000 yen.

Realise though that a return ticket back to your home country wont cost much more than a single ticket.
