I would go as far as saying it's impossible as there are non-native English speakers teaching in Taiwan now. But just keep in mind, that it will definitely be a challenge, and expect the worst case scenario where you cannot get a teaching job in Taiwan.

Best case scenario would be you get your teaching job. Anything in between would be teaching English but not able to command as high a salary as a native English speaker.

You would definitely need to be in Taiwan however in order to apply for a teaching job.
