Just some advice for those deciding what type of ticket to buy to fly to Taiwan.

An OPEN ticket is good, but usually quite expensive. You may want to also consider a return sector departing for Hong Kong or Thailand. The visa authorities aren't concerned where you travel to, as long as you have an outgoing ticket.

You can then forfeit this return sector. Of course, you will then need to buy a one-way ticket back to your home country eventually. This is only a recommendation, and I suggest weighing up the costs of each option.
