Japanese Wa, Ga, & Wo

I've just started the Ical online certificate course and am having a little trouble explaining about MT influence on English speaking.

Japanese Wa, Ga, & Wo.

Does anyone know the English grammatical terms for these words?

Maybe something like wa = subjective particle, wo = objective particle.

I tried the Ical forums but there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity there. Frankly the grammatical jargon is beginning to give me a headache.
