Lightbulb Education for children in Taiwan

Schooling your 7 year old child in an International School in Taiwan will be pricy. It's not cheap, however since both you and your wife will be teaching English, then you should be able to afford it.

I very much doubt you can save much if you send your child to an international school, study mandarin and live in decent accommodation. There are also the initial setup costs of establishing yourself when you first move to Taiwan. After spending 2 years in Taiwan, expect to have some savings, but it may not amount to as much as you think.

As a full-time teacher in Taiwan, you would be on about NT$60,000 per month. Less tax of 10% if staying more than 183 days.

For a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment, expect around NT$30,000 per month. Best would be to see actual classifieds of accommodation in Taiwan. See below: Here is a list of International Schools you can contact for prices, curriculum etc.
  1. American School in Taichung (Lincoln American School)
  2. Dominican International School (Taipei)
  3. Grace Christian Academy
  4. Hsinchu International School
  5. Kaosiung American School
  6. Morrison Academy (Taichung)
  7. Morrison Academy Bethany Campus (Taipei)
  8. Morrison Academy, Kaohsiung Campus
  9. National Experimental High School
  10. Taipei American School
  11. Taipei European School
  12. Yang Ming Shan Christian School (Taipei)
