Hello,

Well, I've been teaching in Istanbul (not eastern Turkey) for about two years now and can tell you that working in Eastern Turkey would be an adventure. As far as pay you might be suprised as generally the pay isn't much less than that of ISTANBUL due to the lack of people wanting to teach there.

Of course it depends on your qualifications, where you work, amount of lesson hrs., etc. I have seen a few ads in the past that range from 1000-1300 usd plus free housing in eastern Turkey. Remember it is alot cheaper than Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa and Izmir.

Depending on your lifestyle and what your looking for it may or may not be for you. If you are looking for time to do research, learn the language and cultural immersion then it would be great. It will not hold much in terms of night life or guilty pleasures such as drinking. I hope this helps. (oh and if you have a good academic background check out the prep schools in private universities.)
