Re: Where can I go to teach English

If you wanted to teach in Australia, you could try for a job in a private language school with a CELTA. If you wanted to work in the public sector, you'd need a Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL plus a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment on top of your CELTA.

Remember that in Japan, Taiwan and Korea you need to be an Australian citizen to teach English there.

China, Vietnam and Thailand are pretty easy to get jobs in (China only as long as you're not Chinese/Asian yourself unfortunately - I don't know what the discrimination level is like in Vietnam and Thailand though).

Europe is another option. I had no problems getting work in Germany with a Bachelor's Degree and a Cert. IV in TESOL even though the Germans have a reputation for thinking only their education system is any good and the rest of the world's is rubbish. Europe is so far away though & kinda boring...I find Asia a much more interesting place to live/work in, but that's just my opinion.

Teaching English online is another possibility. It's what i'm doing now - it's great coz you can be anywhere at all and work, as long as you're connected to the internet. Working just 10 hours a week online would make me enough to live comfortably in Vietnam, China or Thailand if I so chose.
