| Re: Ways of Learning and Teaching a Language - Communicative Approach -warm up with friendly chit chat
-cold questioning, ask a question to the students in which to respond they would have to use the day's target language (they usually can't so you model a sample answer)
-read a conversation (act out) that has the target language
-ask content/comprehension questions about the read conversation, then ask the same question but personalize it for the student , for example "What did John do on Saturday?", "What did you do on Saturday?"
-review or explain target language OR go over sample sentences or questions with target language
-controlled practice, usually using a book, incomplete sentences, anything where part of the language/sentence/question/statement is all ready written for you
-free practice, usually game/activity in which student must use target language to complete
Thats more or less my strategy with adults, would that be communicative style? |
