Re: Reasonable living expense in Hong Kong

Your scenario is earn HKD 16000 / month. (USD 2060) and save HKD 3800 / month. (USD 490)

If accommodation is around HKD 2000 / month, then you would have plenty left of the table for spending before setting yourself an easy target of saving only HKD 3800.

You should also be able to get return airfare thrown into your package if you stay for 1 year at these rates.

Here is a great link on the cost of living in Hong Kong.

Takeaway Lunch (lunchbox): HKD 30
Movie ticket: HKD 60
Big Mac Value Meal: HKD 22
Fresh milk 1 litre: HKD 25
Bus: Central to Stanley: HKD 8
Min taxi fare for 2 km or less HKD: 15
General Practitioner: HKD 600
Broadband: HKD 298 / month
