Degree Vs TEFL really depends on what your goals are... if you want to teach in non English speaking countries... get the certificate, see if you like it and then maybe look into the degree/MA after getting a year or 2 under your belt.

certificates are cheaper and less time consuming and are enough for a good job and for you to know what you are doing in the classroom...

to have the widest choice of jobs make sure your certificate has teaching practice with foreign learners...
