If you've lived in China, you've probably been disappointed by the lack of foreign movies showing in their cinemas. Unfortunately, China limits screening to 20 foreign movies per year! If you think this is low, only a few years back it was a limit of 10 foreign movies per year. The reason for the increase was to help acceptance to joining the WTO.

Very few Chinese frequent movie cinemas thanks to high prices compared to their earning power. Chinese pay up to 80 yuan per movie, which is rather high for their low salaries.

No wonder why illegal DVD's are flourishing in China!
