Thumbs up My English World Club

My English World Club has main office in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia.

They claim to be in some sort of partnership with the local government; they are not.

They will tell you the company is "American owned." It is actually ran by a Chinese expat that says she has US citizenship. The company is registered in the name of the Chinese office manager.

The owner claims to be a lawyer, and she will tell you she has a lot of connections and can get things done quickly for you. In fact, she may have been a law clerk, or married to a lawyer at one time, but she has no connections, and cannot even get legal work visas.

The Canadian managers are pathological liars. Even when caught in their lies, they will try to lie their way out of it. If they call you, just ask for proof of anything they claim (like relationship with the local government). Ask them for some email addresses or telephone numbers of current teachers so you can check out their claims.

The company always pays late.

The company will try to "fudge" hours by not counting a 50 minute class period as a teaching hour.

The company will withhold more of your pay for taxes than the actual tax amount.

Housing will not be provided according to your contract.

You will be threatened with physical violence or be payed even later than other employees if you complain.

Do yourself a favour and just go somewhere else. There are tons of places looking for teachers in China, and a lot of them are good to work for. If you want to go to Tongliao, there are good schools there. Just stay away from My English World Club. It is very bad.
