Chiang Kai-Shek (CKS) International Airport

CKS International Airport is located in Taoyuan County approximately 40 kilometres, or about 50 minutes by car or bus from downtown Taipei. The airport opened in 1979 and caters to over 20 million passengers per year.

You will find a range of facilities and services at CKS International Airport. There are a number of banks open long hours should you require foreign currency exchange etc. The rates at the airport are similar to what can be found downtown.

At the arrival passport control counter, present the following:

  • Passport
  • Tourist Visa
  • Departing flight ticket
  • Disembarkation/Embarkation Form
  • Customs Declaration Form

On the plane to Taiwan, you will receive a Disembarkation/Embarkation and Customs Declaration Form. If you do not receive one on the plane, you may obtain one at the arrival passport control counter.

The immigration officer will stamp your date of entry on the visa page of your passport. Make sure that the immigration officer stamps the entry date on the visa page as in some cases the visa officer fails to locate your visa and assumes you have entered Taiwan on a VISA-EXEMPT ENTRY status. If such happens, you will only be allowed to stay in Taiwan for 30 days and no extensions will be granted.

The immigration officer will also staple your Embarkation Card to your passport. Do not misplace your Embarkation Card.

After you get your affairs in order at the immigration counter, proceed to the Baggage and Customs Hall to retrieve your baggage. If you have no dutiable goods, proceed to the "Nothing to Declare" counters, indicated by the green sign. If you are bringing dutiable goods, proceed to the "Goods to Declare" counters, indicated by the red sign.

After you clear customs, proceed to the Arrival Passenger Hall. Our driver will be there waiting for you. Please do not wander outside the Passenger Hall as it would make it difficult for the driver to spot you.

Finally, don't forget to bring your university qualifications and any reference letters you may have from previous employers. We need your original university qualification in order to apply for your work permit.
